Make sure you're
connected to the Internet so that Windows can activate and detect your Office
purchase.
- Go
to Start > Word 2016. Can't find Word 2016?
- Select Activate.
Activate should be the only option that's shown. If you're prompted for a product key and you know you paid for Office, see Troubleshoot Office that's pre-installed on a new PC.
- Follow
the prompts to complete the activation process.
As part of this process, you'll create or specify a Microsoft account to associate with Office.
Please note: If you purchased your PC on Lenovo.com or online, the email address you used for your purchase does not automatically link to the version of Office on your machine. You must establish or concern your email address with a Microsoft account.
- Remember
this account so that you can reinstall Office on this PC in the future, or
install Office on additional computers or devices if you have an Office
365 subscription.
If you have an existing Office 365 subscription, be sure to specify the Microsoft account that's associated with your subscription if you want to extend your existing subscription instead of starting a new one. If you have a Microsoft account but can't remember the account or password, see I can't remember the Microsoft account I use with Office.
C. I bought Office or received an offer for Office with my new
PC, but I'm seeing the Try, Buy, and Activate screen
- If
you try to activate Office before Windows has activated, your new PC will
show the Try, Buy, and Activate buttons when only Activate should be
shown. To fix this issue and claim your Office
purchase or offer, see "Sorry, couldn't set up Office" error 0xc004f200 when activating Office. Be confirm to follow this guidance even if you started a free trial.
- Microsoft
Office is now a digital activation with a card and key. However, if your
PC was supposed to include a free offer and card for Office but didn't,
please try following the steps under I bought Office or received an offer for Office with my new PC, but I'm seeing the Try, Buy, and Activate screen.. If the problem persists, contact your PC manufacturer
or the store where you bought your PC.
When you buy a new
computer that comes with both a Windows and Office (Office 2016 or Office 365)
license as part of the purchase, Windows will attempt to activate itself when
you start.
Resolution
- Make
sure your computer is connected to the Internet and Windows will attempt
to automatically activate itself within a few minutes.
- To
check if Windows has been activated, click Settings > System > About > System Info (under related settings)
or
Right click on Start and then click System. Under Windows activation, it should say Windows is activated.
- Please
Note:
In some cases, Windows may take up to 30 minutes to activate depending on
Internet availability in your area. If you just activated Windows, you may
want to wait a little bit before you activate Office to ensure that the
Windows activation process has completed.
- Once
Windows is activated, you can start an Office application and go through
the redemption process for Office by clicking Activate on the Let’s get started screen
